FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PAINTING, SHE DECIDES TO WORK ON A LARGE SCALE, HERE IN 90 BY 90 CENTIMETERS FORMAT AND TO TRANSLATE DRAWINGS INTO PAINTING : THIS NEW CHALLENGE GIVES BIRTH TO THE « FREUD » SERIES OF PAINTINGS, MADE IN SUMMER 2020.

IN " FREUD ", SHE DENOUNCES THE WAY IN WHICH WE ARE OFTEN SHOWN IN THE MEDIA AND THE IMAGES AROUND US A SINGLE LIFESTYLE AND THAT WE CALL THE OTHERS « ATYPICAL ». SHE CRITICIZES OUR FAILURE TO RESPECT THE MULTIPLICITY OF LIFESTYLES : SHE NAMES THIS SERIES « FREUD », TAKING THE EXAMPLE OF THE OEDIPUS COMPLEX WHICH TO DESCRIBE THE DYNAMICS OF PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIPS IN OUR WESTERN SOCIETY, HOWEVER, THIS HETEROCENTRIC COMPLEX LOSES ITS MEANING, AS IT EXCLUDES MANY POSSIBILITIES OF IDENTITIES. SHE USES THIS EXAMPLE TO SHOW THE ABSURD ASPECT OF WANTING TO THINK OF SEVERAL DIFFERENT LIVES UNDER A SINGLE AND ONLY ANGLE AND THE VIOLENCE THAT IT CREATES.

HER CHARACTERS ARE VICTIMS AND TORMENTORS OF THESE SOCIETAL LIMITS : WENDY SYLVAIN PAINTS A GLOOMY PICTURE OF OUR SOCIETY : SHE CRITICIZES, WITHOUT LOOKING DOWN, COMPLETELY INCLUDED IN THIS MECHANISM, SHE WANTS TO BRING AWARENESS TO PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR OWN LIFE AND MAKE THEM STOP LOOKING AT THE LIVES OF OTHERS.

SPEAKING OF TODAY’S SOCIETY, THE ILLUSTRATOR COULDN’T MISS OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH TECHNOLOGY : FASCINATED BY A REMOTE CONTROL, LANGUID EMBRACE WITH A TELEVISION, SHE MAKES OUR DEVICES ALMOST OUR DIVINITIES OF TODAY. HER CHARACTERS, SIMILAR TO CAVEMEN BUT REPRESENTING THE MEN OF TODAY, SEEM TO BE IMMERSING THEMSELVES IN TECHNOLOGY FOR THE FIRST TIME. ARCHAIC BUT CONTEMPORARY VISION, SHE CRITIQUES THE WORRYING OMNIPRESENCE OF OUR CONNECTED DEVICES IN OUR LIVES.

RIBS AND VISIBLE SPINE, THE MEAGER BODIES ARE THOUGHT OF AS FORMS, IN " FREUD ", SHE PRESENTS HER CHARACTERS, NAKED, VULNERABLE, IN FRONT OF EVERYONE : WOMAN, MAN, OTHER, SHE DOESN’T MAKE ANY PARTICULAR DISTINCTION, THEY SWITCH FROM ONE SEX TO ANOTHER, OR PERHAPS THEY INITIALLY HAVE NO DEFINED SEX TO BEGIN WITH. WHEN SHE PRESENTS A FEMALE'S BODY, SHE OFTEN DRAWS HER FEMALE CHARACTERS, BARE CHESTS : SHE WISHES TO SHOW BODIES AS BODIES, DEVOID OF ANY MARK OF SEXUALIZATION.
